Making Therapeutic Contact With “Difficult To Reach Clients”

This workshop attempts to shed some light on the reluctance that “difficult-to-reach” client have in allowing helpers to engage with them.  It addresses the dimensions of power, respect, and emotionality, and how consumers who have been marginalized and stigmatized throughout their history as service recipients may need some unorthodox approaches in order to be surprised out of their negative expectations into “letting us in.”
